"Computistica," "Expositio hymnorum," canticles

[Ker 160, Gneuss 337)

HISTORY: This copy of the "Expositio hymnorum" and monastic canticles, both with OE gloss, dates to the mid-llc, and was perhaps written in Canterbury, possibly Christ Church. The metrical calendar dates to the early llc (Temple 1976: 80). As Ker (Cat.) notes, the words "principium iani" (f. 3r) "identify the manuscript with the one entered in the catalogue of Durham Cathedral Priory" in 1391. Owned by Henry Savile of Banke (1568-1617). Incorporated into the British Museum in 1753. For use by Somner and Junius, see Gneuss 1968: 97.
