Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • Submissions are open to participants of the Healing from Racism Journey program.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor). Facilitators and guest speakers are encouraged to submit works that are inspired by and/or connected to the HRJ curriculum.
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • Manuscript abstracts are recommended to be 200 to 250 words long. They should include the title of the work, touch on major themes and the significance of the work to the author. See each Section's criteria for guidelines regarding descriptions for non-Manuscript submissions.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • Submissions can be made in the language appropriate to the work of the author, however English translations are appreciated.

Author Guidelines

Participants of the Healing From Racism Journey program will be invited to contribute to the Journal of Antiracist EduAction: Teaching and Beyond each cycle the HRJ program occurs. This will include cohort members at the time of the most recent iteration of the program, as well as past HRJ participants, the facilitators, and guests from the wider HRJ community. An invitation to eligible contributors will be formally made on an annual basis, with submissions also being accepted on a rolling basis.

We ask that, where possible, authors use language accessible to those outside of their field. Works cited must be properly referenced using a publication style of the author's choice (e.g. APA), however all sources need to be referenced in a consistent format throughout the work.
