Learning and Literacy through Videogaming
Abstract
Kathy Sanford, Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of Victoria is currently researching literacy in connection with videogaming with assistance from graduate students and research collaborators, Liz Merkel and Leanna Madillin. Their study, Literacy Learning through Video Games looks at the gamer’s use of multiliteracies, their leadership development and their learning of transferrable job skills. In highlighting these new skills, many preconceptions of videogaming are debunked.
