Frankenbooks: Bringing eBooks to Life

Authors

  • Stephen Abram Gale Cengage Learning

Abstract

The transition to e-books is happening fast and there are many issues to address.  It seems like the e-book juggernaut is moving along like a train with no brakes. The author, a veteran librarian and publisher, shares some of his perspectives on what we need to think about with respect to e-books and how we and our users and organizations will need to adapt and change our understanding of the very concept of a book. Are we entering a period of Frankenbooks where the creation will turn into a monster that destroys both the good and the bad?  Or will the creation ultimately be a positive transformational change, unseen on this scale since the printing press?
