Abstract
Prince George Public Library partnered with Kwantlen Polytechnic University faculty to go beyond circulation and reference statistics to estimate patron use of the libraries during August 2013. Based on patron completed time-diaries, the study estimated how many hours were spent reading, watching or listening to borrowed library materials during this month. In addition, the number of hours spent by patrons in each branch was calculated based on exit surveys and gate counts. The resulting time-based matrix showed the use of the library services in a more comparable manner to other municipal recreation services.
