Author Biography

Michelle Lee, University of Texas

After recently receiving her MA in Creative Writing at the University of Texas at Austin, Michelle S. Lee is actively pursuing a PhD in Literature at UT. Her dissertation project focuses on the complex intersection of Michael Field with theories of performance, as well as the construction/deconstruction of persona and identity. In addition, she is exploring the issues of literary text as autobiography: what constitutes autobiography as a genre? Michelle also serves as one of the co-editors of Womenââ¬â¢s and Gender Studies in Review across Disciplines, an interdisciplinary graduate student publication. This past spring, Michelle played MacDuff in a gynocentric adaptation of Macbeth, as well as herself in an auto/biographical performance tentatively called, ââ¬ÅA Question of Memory: An Invocation, An Infatuation, a Revelation,ââ¬Â based on her Michael Field research. This fall, the Vortex Repertory Company will produce her short play, "Michael Field - The Oneness of Two," as part of their Bare Bones New Works Festival.
