Janet Melo-Thaiss, York University

Janet Melo-Thaiss is a PhD candidate at York University in Toronto. She is currently engaged in a study of the rhetorical construction of late 19th and early 20th century historical fiction in both the U.S. and Canada. Her most recent publication appeared in the Fall/Winter 2003 edition of Memorial Universityââ¬â¢s journal Postscript and is entitled ââ¬ÅTainted Logic, Tainted History: Re-visioning National Narratives in E.L. Doctorowââ¬â¢s The Book of Daniel.ââ¬Â This article explores Doctorow's attempt to revise dominant historical discourses by reinserting those voices which history has forgotten or erased. In addition, other research interests also include French Feminist Theory (especially Hélène Cixous) as well as the work of Michel Foucault.
