Abstract

Depite the increasing popularity of Latin American women's literature for decades now, the biological aspects of motherhood are seldom documented. To recognize the work of Hispanic feminist writers who explicitly subvert the literary gag order on the female reproductive body, this study focusses on contemporary texts that are radical in their sustained depiction of pregnancy. Whether inscribing pregnancy taken to term or terminated, the work of the authors analyzed manage to undermine masculinist values that privilege the experiences and, therefore, representation of the dominant group.
