Karlene Faith, <i>The Long Prison Journey of Leslie Van Houten: Life Beyond the Cult</i>

I am a co-founder and co-editor of /thirdspace/. I am an International student from England who came to Canada to study and fell in love with Vancouver. 9 years and two degrees later I am still here. I started my PhD in Women's Studies at UBC in September 2001 and hope to make Canada my permanent home. I received my BA in Women's Studies and Art History in 1998 and completed my MA in Women's Studies at UBC in 2001. My research focused on female adultery in contemporary Canadian women's fiction, exploring the adultery plot from a feminist perspective and looking for writers who subvert the traditional language of adultery to create a space for a feminist reading of the adultery plot. Currently I am continuing my research on female adultery and expanding it to include a study of film. I also work as a Research Assistant on campus, participating in a book project on Canadian women artists and when I am not on campus I work part-time in my local, independent women's bookstore - Women in Print.
