Announcing CUJCS Volume 8 (2025 Edition)

2025-12-07

This November, our 2025 Editorial Board published the eighth volume of the Canadian Undergraduate Journal of Cognitive Science (CUJCS). Print copies of CUJCS Volume 8 (2025 Edition) will be available soon through SFU’s Cognitive Science Student Society.

This edition features seven peer-reviewed journal articles from undergraduate researchers around the world, bringing together voices across Cognitive Science and related disciplines to present their recent empirical work. Volume 8 is centred around four themes:

1. The Minds of Many: Theory of Mind, Neurodiversity, and Social Cognition
2. Intelligence in Decline: Memory, Identity, and Neurodegeneration
3. Developing Intelligence: Human, Artificial, and Everything In-Between
4. Consciousness and the Machine: Brains, Bots, and the Self

We are proud to feature authors Marley Bridger (University of Toronto), Emily Huang (Stanford University), Jingqian (Jessy) Xue (University of Saskatchewan), Jixuan Jin (University of Toronto), Darin Lei (University of Toronto), Jing Xian Ng (National University of Singapore), Abigail Peacock (University of Edinburgh), and Maya Winfield (University of Toronto).

The 2025 team extends a warm thank you to all authors who contributed manuscripts this year, both for their hard work and for sharing their undergraduate scholarship with the academic community. We are thrilled to welcome this year’s contributors as CUJCS Alumni, and we look forward to following their research and interests as they evolve in the coming years.

We also extend our sincere gratitude to everyone involved in the publication of this year’s issue: our Web Team; Section and Copy Editors; Managerial Team; the Cognitive Science Student Society; and especially our SFU Faculty and Library collaborators. We hope to see many of our 2025 Editors return for next year’s edition, and we offer a huge congratulations to graduating members of this year’s team.

Cheers,
