About the Journal

The Embark Climate Justice Journal is a multidisciplinary effort to empower and resource SFU students in their sustainability journeys by publishing undergraduate and graduate coursework grounded in climate justice concepts. We prioritize anti-oppression, decolonization, and equity in the articles we publish as a means to spark dialogue and drive action towards dismantling oppressive frameworks within our climate systems.

Highlighting Pre-existing Coursework
This journal will host pre-existing undergraduate and graduate level coursework across all disciplines, including research articles, case studies, essays, and literature reviews. Our aim is to highlight the dynamic research and academic explorations already undertaken by SFU undergraduates and graduates as part of their degree so that SFU students can gain inspiration from one another. The Embark Student Journal for Climate Justice does not accept original works that are unrelated to one's academic progress at SFU.

An Intersectional Approach to Climate Justice
Racialized and marginalized communities face frontline impacts of climate change, and this journal prioritizes works that centre the experiences of those most marginalized within current institutional responses to the climate crisis. Works submitted must bridge concepts of climate change and justice to be considered, however, climate justice will be defined by this journal as an intersectional and multifaceted concept with ties across liberation movements.
