Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is in the provided template. It is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • You have included your most recent unofficial academic transcript.
  • You submission includes a short summary of the assignment as an abstract.
  • Where available, you have uploaded your original assignment guidelines.

Author Guidelines

In the First Year category, papers must be between 500 and 2,000 words.  

In the Middle Years category, papers must be between 1,000 and 2,500 words.  

In the Fourth Year+ category, papers must be between 1,500 and 3,500 words.  

In the Plurilingual Prize category, papers must be between 500 and 2,500 words.  

Word count does not include the abstract or references list. Papers that are more than 20 words over the word count, or more than 20 words under the word count, will not be accepted. Please revise your paper to ensure that it falls within the accepted word count.
