The SFU Ed Review Journal is looking for energetic students to join the editorial team. With some of us having graduated and others getting close to the finish line, we need more people to keep this important work going forward.

SFU Educational Review Journal is a graduate student-run journal at Simon Fraser University and supports diverse scholarship in the field of Education. The journal publishes 1 to 2 issues per year, is fully open access and, as for January 2020, is part of DOAJ - Directory of Open Access Journals. The journal has been operating in a non-hierarchical way, in which the editorial team makes decisions together and divides the work among themselves. Please have a look at the journal’s web page for more information:

The main responsibilities and accountabilities of an editor are:

  • ensuring that the issues are published on time and adheres to the processes and standards of SFU Ed Review’s publications;
  • discussing and planning issues, assisting in writing the call for submissions and evaluating whether submissions are suitable for the journal;
  • commissioning articles through contacting potential authors and reviewers, when necessary;
  • following up with reviewers and authors regarding the reviewing and publishing process.

The candidate for this position manages time efficiently and is able complete tasks that may have competing deadlines, communicates and works well in teams.

Editors are expected to attend team meetings, usually one or two per month and more frequently closer to publication dates. Commitment of time is most crucial towards planned publication times. Candidates must be willing to commit to 1 year for this position.

This is a volunteer position; however a stipend will be offered (stipend is dependent on allocation of budget funds by the faculty of Education).

We hope you would take this excellent opportunity to steer one of the leading student-led journals of SFU, enrich your academic experiences and professional growth.

Please email a short letter of intent outlining your area of expertise and interest to work with the team and to learn more about the journal at by November 10, 2023.
